Tourism Manager

Time frame: open ended
Start Date: Immediately

We are looking for a Tourism Manager to oversee proactively manage the tourism for three lodges within a national park.  You will be a senior member of the general management team, with a specific responsibility to manage and develop the current tourism product through excellent front of house management, staff training, management of resources, liaison with marketing and booking agents, and provision of financial management to name a few areas. 

Required Qualifications

  • Experience in running tourism facilities in a remote setting
  • Minimum 2 years management experience
  • Excellent written and spoken English communication skills
  • Computer and internet literate including web page update
  • Drivers licence (and experience driving on bush roads)

Optional but desirable qualifications

  • Experience in tourism in Zambia
  • Tourism guiding

Optional but desirable traits

  • Zambia work permit or Residency
  • Willingness to live in a remote area
  • Team player
  • Can do and problem-solving attitude
  • Committed, and willing to contribute, to conservation

Tourism Assistant

Time frame: 6 months
Start Date: Immediately

We’re looking for an enthusiastic, confident tourism assistant to help with events and management of tourists during the busy tourist season (July to December). The volunteer should be available for approximately 6 months (however other periods may be available). The trust can offer accommodation on site and the opportunity to gain valuable work experience in an amazing environment!

Forestry and GIS Specialist

Time frame: Flexible up to 1 year
Start Date: Immediately

We’re looking for an enthusiastic Forestry and GIS Specialist, to live and work at Kasanka National Park for a period of up to one year. The volunteer will work on our Fire Management Programme which utilises early burning to reduce the impact of hot destructive fires, in combination with a well developed network of fire breaks designed to protect fire sensitive habitats. The Volunteer will use GIS monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of the Fire Management Programme by measuring the number and extent of unplanned fires late in the dry season.

Before applying, it's important to note that volunteers will have to cover the cost of their living whilst at Kasanka. They will have to make their own way to Lusaka, but from there Kasanka can assist in organising their transport to the national park. All volunteer experiences are unique and details will be arranged with Kasanka management prior to commencement.
