Calling all Bird Enthusiasts – October Big Day Out

Kasanka has been chosen as one of the areas to host this years Worldwide Bird count on the 9th and 10th of October 2021.
We have various options of accommodation for you to choose from:
Wasa fully catered Lodge : A special rate of $55pppn for our standard chalet and $65 pppn for our Superior chalet.
Luombwa Self catering Lodge:
3 x chalets sleeps 10 people with kitchen, lapa area, firepit and welcoming staff, bedding, crockery, cutlery all supplied but remember your food, drinks and ice.
Take the whole camp for $350 per night.
Pontoon camps 1,2 and 3.
Shaded camping area, firepit, braai stand, ablution block and a welcoming staff member.
Bring all your kit.
This is right next to a lovely viewing deck overlooking a swampy area, popular with a vast array of bird life and Sitatunga for a treat!

How to Participate

TIP ONE: Get an eBird account, eBird is a worldwide bird checklist program used by millions of birders. It’s what allows us to compile everyone’s sightings into a single massive October Big Day list-while at the same time collecting the data for scientists to use to better understand birds. TIP TWO: Go to explore on your eBird account, choose a location,>>>> select region Zambia, Central >>>>Then select a subregion Hotspots in Central >>>> continue >>>>Kasanka NP

TIP THREE: Watch birds on 9 October. It’s that simple! October Big Day runs from midnight to midnight in your local time zone. You don’t need to be a bird expert, or go out all day long.

TIP FOUR: Enter what you see and hear on eBird. Watch the sightings roll in. During the day, keep an eye on how the lists are growing in different parts of the world. Follow along with reports from more than 160 countries!
