Bushmeat poaching at its peak!
Poaching for bushmeat is at its peak during the rainy season in Kasanka. The main target species are puku, sitatunga and other small antelopes.
Between January and March 3 suspects were apprehended, 224 wire snares were recovered and 10 fishing nets were removed.
The Trusts anti-poaching operations have improved steadily over the past two years and mammal numbers are growing. Puku, the most common antelope in the park, have increased on average by 20% each year since 2018.
